Technical excellence in rowing and sculling oars
AND NOW OLYMPIC MEDAL WINNERS
BRONZE FOR LITHUANIA IN WOMEN’S 2X
For nearly a decade Braća (pronounced bra-cha), the
established world leaders in racing canoe paddles*, have been producing advanced
technology rowing and sculling oars, applying their expertise in shaft and
blade manufacture, backed by top level R&D facilities for hydrodynamic
design.
Braća-sport now operates as an Eastern European joint venture
with sophisticated modern production facilities in Kaunas, Lithuania, and a
global marketing organisation in Budapest, Hungary. Previously used mainly by
Eastern European crews, they were for years the world’s best-kept secret in
racing oars. Now starting to take off in a big way in America and Western
Europe, these oars represent the very highest quality at prices that are
without doubt exceptional value for money.
They are just so
packed with good features, it’s hard to list them all, but to understand the quality,
take a look at this diagrammatical view of the how the blade is formed.
High-strength carbon clearly dominates the sandwich material of top
and bottom surfaces. But what really sets these blades apart from other brands
well known in Australia is that they have no exposed foam core at the edges.
The blade is totally sealed, with the extra protection of an internal impact
resistant strip. And the blade-to-shaft joint is smoothly faired and totally
sealed against water penetration of the blade core.
And every Braća
oar shaft carries a unique serial number, and precise records of weight, centre
of gravity and stiffness are held by the factory, enabling any oar to be
perfectly duplicated upon request. It is also an extra security feature,
discouraging theft. Why don’t other manufacturers do this?
Braća-sport - simply great oars – now proven in Olympic
competition!
The more popular types of Braća-sport oars
are generally available from stock at Scull Success, but very high recent
demand has led to some shortages, and obviously we cannot hold in stock every
possible combination of shaft, blade, length, handle and pitch. However, all
oars can be custom made to your precise specification. We place an order on the
factory at the end of each odd-numbered month, with 7-8 week delivery time. So
please call us to check if we have the oars you want, and if not, we can book
them into our end of November order for delivery in January.

*For those familiar with racing
canoe paddles, the spelling of the brand name may cause some confusion.
Canoe paddles have traditionally
been branded with the name in the original Hungarian spelling, Brácsa, whilst
Braća is the Lithuanian spelling. Braća-sport is the brand name of
the modern company incorporated since the liberation of Lithuania from the
Soviet Union. This is the spelling on all rowing and sculling oars.
